Legislature means the law making bodies of a particular state. So in the centre the law making body is known as the Parliament but in States it is known as Legislature.
Usually it consists of the Governor, legislative assembly(Vidhan Sabha) & legislative council(Vidhan Parishad).
The legislative assembly & legislative council are known as ‘houses’. If there are both these two houses in the State, then it is known as bicameralism, but there are many states in India which follow Unicameralism i.e. they have only one house in the State which is the assembly.
