Here it is described that due to natural frequency of air column ( the vibration of gas particles in air per second) the level of water in tube A will change.

Explanation:

here the tube A is fixed but we can move vessel B( filled with water) up or down. if we move vessel B up then we know that level of water in tube A will increase. if we move vessel down level decrease.

tube A is closed but vessel B has direct contact with air. here it says that frequency of air coloum is inversely propotional to length of water level in tube A.

F= constant × 1/length

so when length of water level increases frequency decreases if the length decreases frequency increase.

remember that vessel B is a Reservoir it can hold mor water from atmosphere.
