अध्यापक:- यदि भगवान् स्वयं तव समीपं साक्षादागत्य "वरं वृणीष्व" इति वदॆत् तर्हि भवान् किं वृणुयात् ?

(Teacher:- If God himself appears before you and offered any boon, what will you request for?)

एक: विद्यार्थी:- अहं सवर्ण दूरदर्शनं वरत्वॆन वरिष्यामि ||

(Student 1:- I shall ask for a colour Television.)

अन्य:विद्यार्थी:- अहं शीतकं वरिष्यामि ||

(Student 2:- I shall request for an Air conditioner.)

अपर: विद्यार्थी:- अहं संगणक यन्त्रं वरिष्यामि||

(Student 3:- I would choose to have a Computer.)

अध्यापक:- रे मूर्खा: ! तथा न कर्तव्यम् | यदि भगवान् साक्षादागत्य "वरं वृणीष्व" इति मां पृच्छति चॆत् अहं तु विद्यां वरत्वेन वृणोमि ||

(Teacher:- You fools, you are asking for all petty things. If God appeared to me and told me to request a boon, I would ask for knowledge.)

विद्यार्थी :- तत्र किम् आश्चर्यम् ? यस्य यन्नास्ति स: तदेव वृणोति ||

(Student 1:- What's there to be surprised in it? Each one asks for something that they do not possess.)
