Bishu Maharana
In the Odia folklore, Dharmapada was the son of a great architect named Bishu Maharana, who completed the construction of a temple in a single night to save 1,200 craftsmen from execution, and then sacrificed his own life to prevent the story from spreading.
Bisu Maharana had left home when his wife held Dharmapada in her womb. Dharmapada grew up listening about the craftmenship of his father and studying the theories and books of architecture left behind by his famous father. On his twelveth birth day he asked for a gift from his mother.
