Speed can increase or decrease even when acceleration is constant.

We know that speed = distance/time.

v=s/t

So there is no question of acceleration.

So how can we say that acceleration Plays a role in the increment of decrement of speed?

Let us Take the case of the gravitational constant.

This means the acceleration due to gravity.

This constant is taken as 9.8m/s².

When the particle moves with the acceleration 9.8 m/s² , the speed can increase or decrease no doubt.
