can the body temperature be determined by placing the thermometer at any other place than the mouth ?

we can determine the temperature by putting the thermometer in the underarms of kids (who don't have hairs there) but in adults and teens exact temperature can be obtained only by placing the thermometer in the mouth.

We can know the body temperature by placing it there also.
