Can the sodium produce hydrogen if it reacts with very dilute nitric acid?

No....only magnesium and manganese can produce hydrogen when they are reacted with very dilute nitric acid ( 1%)
Mg+ 2HNO3--------- Mg(NO3)2 + H2
Mn + 2HNO3 ------------ Mn(NO2) + H2
