Can the speed of a proton change while it moves freely in a magnetic field? Give reason for your answer

NO..only if any extra force is acting on the magnet..otherwise no speed will change..

if any extra force act on it so the speed should be change otherwise not because according to law of motion anything in motion is continue in motion or anything at rest stay at test until any external fotce apply on it.
