Convection is heat transferby mass motion of a fluid such as air or water.Convection does not occur in solids because the particles within are too tightly packed to facilitate the process.Convection requires actualmovement between the particles within a substance.

Answer:

Heat transfer of convection does not take place in the case of solids because , in liquids, when the molecules are heated they rise up and come to the top. But in case of solids the molecules are tightly packed and does not have the space to move .
