Retroviruses can transform normal cells into cancerous cells. Though pro-oncogenes can be activated in lots of ways.

It is the retroviruses that introduce malignant cells or the element of malignance in normal cells and hence making the normal cells or transforming them into cancerous cells.

The tumour cells that is the cells having multiple – uncontrolled growth are hence transformed into cancerous cells that are malignant.
