Two adjacent angles can be complimentary, if they add up to 90∘, i.e. the sum of two angles formed should be 90∘. From the figure ∠ABD and ∠CBD are adjacent angles from the same vertex. They are also complementary as the sum of the angles is 90∘, i.e. ∠ABD+∠CBD=30∘ + 60∘ = 90∘.
