Wax of the candle is made of carbon and hydrogen which reacts with oxygen on burning and changes into carbon dioxide gas and water which escapes into the air. ... As a result, candle melts and reduces in size. This is a physical change. So, during the burning of a candle, both physical and chemical changes take place.
