Can u explain me the why only a particular number of electrons are there in shells for eg L shell has 8 electrons why can't it hold more electrons? Please answer it

if you consider the first 18 elements of the periodic table, the maximum number of electrons found in the L-shell is 8. This is because of the fact that electrons are filled in shells in the increasing order of energy. So, first the shells are filled in the order k, then l, and finally m.
