This is method of formation of aryl halides as you can see the benzene ring has NH3group

(amine group) as NaNO2 is a strong oxidising reagent so it oxides the Hydrogen present in the amine and as we know when H leaves it gives +ve charge so nucleophile attacks on it and form NX

Now CuX reduces N2 from ring and thus as a result aryl halide is formed
