William Shakespeare was baptized on 26th April,1564.His birth date is unknown.He was born and brought-up in Stratford-upon-Avon.some of his famous plays are 'Romeo and Juliet', 'The Merchant of Venice',' A Midsummer Night's Dream','As You Like It','Julius Caesar',etc.Some of his important poems's are 'Venus and Adonis','The Rape of Lucrece','A Lover's Complaint',etc.Shakespeare didn't win any awards because there were no awards for writing in his day but many people are wining awards now a days for his work as they are still spontaneously presenting the plays written by Shakespeare.
When someone asks me my favourite book or poem of Shakespeare, I think of "A Midsummer Night's Dream" and "The Merchant Of Venice".When it comes to poems ,I like all of his narrative poems because I find them very intriguing and love to discover its inner meaning.
When it comes to 'A Midsummer Night's Dream', the magical tinge introduced in the story is very amusing and me already having a liking towards fantasy adds to it.The play is funny too,seeing the chaos created by the naughty Puck givingthe potion to wrong people.Also , when Oberon expects titania to fall in love with him due to the potion but Titania falls in love with the clown as she see's him first after opening her eyes.All in all, the play didn't miss to intrigue and amuse me.
When it comes to 'The Merchant Of Venice', the comparision between materialistic Venice and beauiful Belmont increased my interest. The plot and the weaving of scenes and events between the two cities, the rivalry between Antonio and Shylock, love between Portia and Bassanio and the wits of Portia in the climax scenes had me mesmerized.
These are the reasons why I like these plays and Shakespeare or 'The Father of Drama' himself.
