we know that the angles on the corners ofsquare are 90°

then, to find area of shaded region

Area of shaded region = Area of square ABCD - Area of CBL - Area of MDN - Area of NAL

side of square ABCD = 16cm

LB = 10cm

AL = AB - LB = 16-10 = 6cm

AN = 8cm

DN = AD - AN = 16 - 8 = 8cm

DM = 6cm

Now, we have all sides

Area of square ABCD = (side)^2 = 16×16 = 256 m^2

Area of ∆CBL = 1/2 × base × height = 1/2 × 10×16 = 80 m^2

Area of MDN = 1/2 × base × height = 1/2 × 8 × 6

= 24 m^2

Area of NAL = 1/2 × base × height = 1/2 × 6 × 8 = 24 m^2

Area of shaded region = Area of square ABCD - Area of ∆CBL - Area of ∆MDN - Area of ∆NAL

Area of shaded region = 256 - 80 - 24 - 24 = 128 m^2
