transpiration is defined as the loss of water from the arial parts of the plant

its occurs mostly trough stomata and thats why it is called stomatal transpiration

it helps in the removal of excess water and also helps to create a suction to take in water by the roots

The mechanism of stomatal transpiration which takes place during the day time can be studied in 3 steps :

1Osmotic diffusion of water in the leaf from xylem to intercellular spaces above the stomatal through the mesophyll cells.

2Opening and closing of stomata and

3Simple diffusion of water vapours from intercellular spaces to outer atmosphere through stomata
