here is a diagram of binary fission in amoeba ( it is same in bacteria)
In both prokaryotic (bacteria)and eukaryotic (amoeba) cells, the outcome of cell reproduction is a pair of daughter cells that are genetically identical to the parent cell.
process:1)replication of the circular prokaryotic chromosomes begin at the origin of replication and continues in both directions at once
2) the cell begins to elongate
3) the duplicate chromosomes separate and begin to move away from each other
4) the formation of septum divides the cell. plasma membrane and cell wall materials accumulate
5) after septum is complete, the cells seperate forming 2daughter cells
