can we apply mod on both sides of an equation ?

yes I think you can apply for both sides but while removing modulus u must do squaring on bots sides also

It is fine, but we would need to know the theorem that the mod of a ratio is the ratio of the mods. Or else cross multiply, but we still have to know that the mod of a product is the product of the mods

Also, 
all this is obvious if you write z=rez=re or simply as r(cosθ+isinθ)r(cos⁡θ+isin⁡θ)
