Yes, we can change the behaviour of the subject by Counselling,

Explanation:

  • The behavioral approach to counseling focuses on the assumption that the environment determines an individual’s behaviour.
  • What a person reacts to a specific situation is a product of previous learning and also previous actions. Suppose a child had taken a spider up and given it to his mother, for example. She tends to yell because she is afraid of spiders. The child will then know that spiders are dangerous. The child will know that spiders are dangerous. Next time, the child is likely to scream and run to his mother instead of picking up the spider; he might say 'ooh, I hate spiders, they're too boring,' reinforcing the behavior of the child . The infant then develops fear of spiders & runs away (response)  from the view of a spider (stimulus) screaming
  • Behavioral therapies have developed from theories of observed behavior, which is empirical & measured psychological testing. This is the focus of study. "Behaviorists" assume that the behavior is 'learned' and hence can be unlearned. The treatment focuses on personal behavior, which tries to help people improve undesirable behaviours.
  • Unwanted  behaviour is characterized as an undesired response in the world to something or someone. That method would encourage a psychologist to understand inappropriate behavior with a client & work closely to alter or modify the behavior. Phobias, anxiety attacks and eating disorders are issues that can address this form of therapy
