Yes ;we can consume coal for our energy needs because it is a good fossil fuel. and also it can be used in thermal power stations to generate electricity to meet our energy needs but the problem that arises is coal is a non renewable energy source once it is lost it will take millions of years to form.and the burning of coal will produce high amount of pollution which may lead to many diseases. so it is safe to use renewable energy sources with less pollution than coal petroleum etc..
