can we increase the resistance by changing the resistivity

Yes we surely can increase the resistance by increasing resistivity  . Resistivity means extent to oppose the flow in a lay men note . So more it will resist , the more will be the resistance. Also in accordance to the formula of resistance

R= ρl/A

where R= resistance

          l= length of wire

          A = area of cross section of wire

         ρ = resistivity of material

R ∝ ρ

i.e R is directly proportional to resistivity and when resistivity increases , resistance also increases and vice-versa.
