What would happen to the Wheatstone bridge if you interchange the position of a galvanometer and cell?

R1: R2=R3: R4 U1: U2=U3: U4 The total voltage U is the same, the potential at both ends of the bridge is equal, no current flows through the bridge, and the bridge is balanced.

Offhand, (1) it may not function at all - the galvanometer may not have the null reading that it should have; (2) - what purpose / idea will this serve ?

With what little I know about these bridges, it is to determine the value of a unknown resistance/s by comparing it with known values and using the g’meter to have a common current value through all 4 resistors.

Well, do finalize the reason for your proposed experiment before you try it - it may be a good academic exercise and you could perhaps write about it, on established Indian science / teacher journals.

(I will use a multimeter to measure the value of a resistor, if I am not able to understand its color coding !)

Well, best of luck; do try and have a better day !
