can we see the sun even if the sky is not present

You can see the moon because the moon reflects light off it's surface, from the sun, which is what enables you to see it at night, you can see it during the day because it is still reflecting light from the sun, although it will obviously be a lot fainter as it will be sharing the sky with the sun.
