Analogous structures, on the other hand, can be represented by the wings of birds and of insects; the structures are used for flight in both types of organisms, but they have no common ancestral origin at the beginning of their evolutionary development.Analogous organs have different origin but perform same function.
Example-




A structure can be homologous at one level, but only analogous at another. Pterosaur, bird and bat wingsare analogous as wings, but homologous as forelimbs because the organ served as a forearm (not a wing) in the last common ancestor of tetrapods, and evolved in different ways in the three groups.
