There are two problems with aluminium wire:
It's not very strong, so winding high turn count coils can be tricky
It can be difficult to make good connections to, since it forms an insulating oxide layer when exposed to the air
If you can overcome these issues and persuade the wire to wind without breaking, I don't see why it wouldn't work. It is probably better suited to the primary coil than the secondary, since the primary has fewer turns using thicker wire.
