can we use mercury metal as an electrolyte?

no,as mercury is a pure liquid metal it conducts electricity bit is not a electrolite ,because electrolite is drfined as a compound that ionizes when dissolved in suitable dissolving dolvents such as water ,where mercury is a metal element ,not a compound.
