can we use sedimentation and decantation to separate a mixture of sugar and water? Give reason.​

sedimentation is the process of settlement of sediment means dust particles in the bottom of the liquid is called as sedimentation

also decantation is the process of pouring liquid in one container to another container

we can use sedimentation and decantation to separate a mixture of sugar and water

but it takes longer time..

instead we can use the sieving or filtration, distillation

sedimentation is the process by which insoluble substances such as sand lie at the bottom of the container.

decantation is the process by which the water is poured into another container leaving  behind the insoluble substance.

it is not possible to separate sugar and water through decantation because the sugar will be dissolved in water and the sugar will not lie down and also the soluble sugar takes the place in water.thus it cannot be separated from sedimentation and decantation
