Reason :

A laboratory thermometer cannot be used to measure the temperature of a human body because the range of a laboratory thermometer is high generally from –10°C to 110°C, while as normal body temperature in humans is only 37°C. Also laboratory thermometer does not have a kink, so mercury falls on its own which does not give accurate temperature of the human body.

Laboratory thermometers are mercury thermometers and chances of breakage or injection into body of mercury is poisonous and they have very large range which is not required in clinical thermometers.
