Can we use weight of an object as a measure of its mass in day to day life?

Explanation:

while measuring the mass of an object we place it on a weighing machine. Actually it does not measure the mass of the object but measures the normal reaction on it by the object.

here the normal reaction= weight of the object= mass of the object × gravitational acceleration(g)

the gravitational acceleration(g)= 9.8m/s² approximately on all places on the surface of the earth.

but the value of g changes with latitude(but not greatly effected) and altitude or depth of the place.

if you place weighing machine on an accelerating lift the normal reaction will not be equal to weight of the object.

hence we can use weight of an object to measure the mass in most of the cases, but not in all cases.
