Can we write sin^2 theta + cos^2 = 1 as sin theta + cos theta = 1 .

No we can't write sin^2 theta + cos^2 = 1 as sin theta + cos theta = 1 .

Since sin^2 theta + cos^2 = 1 is an identity..
