Can (x–1) be the reminder on division of a polynomial p(x) by (x+3) ?​

if we divide any polynomial p(x) by (x+3) it will always give and number only as remainder and in question it is written that the remainder is (x-1).

so it is wrong and answer is no

In any polynomial division, the degree of the remainder MUST BE LESS THAN the degree of the divisor. Here degree of divisor is 1. So degree of remainder HAS TO BE 0 which means it should just be a real number. Thus, this is not possible.

Note: Degree of a polynomial is the highest exponent of x in that particular polynomial p(x)
