Given - Ratio of speeds of two vehicles is 2 : 3

\implies \mathsf{\dfrac{Speed\;of\;First \;vehicle}{Speed \;of \;Second \;vehicle} = \dfrac{2}{3}}

Given : Second vehicle covers 72 km in 2 hours

It means : Second vehicle covers 36 km in 1 hour

\implies \mathsf{\dfrac{Speed\;of\;First \;vehicle}{36} = \dfrac{2}{3}}

\implies \mathsf{{Speed\;of\;First \;vehicle} = \bigg(\dfrac{2 \times 36}{3}\bigg)}

\implies \mathsf{{Speed\;of\;First \;vehicle} = ({2 \times 12)}}

\implies \mathsf{{Speed\;of\;First \;vehicle} = 24\;km\;per\;hour}

It is given in the question that:-

 = > \frac{speed \: of \: first \: vehicle}{speed \: of \: second \: vehicle} = \frac{2}{3}

So, the second vehicle covers a distance of 72 km in 2 hours, which means that in 1 hour it covers a distance of 36 km.

Now, with the help of given ratio, we can easily find the speed of first vehicle:-

 = > \frac{speed \: of \: first \: vehicle}{speed \: of \: second \: vehicle} = \frac{2}{3}

So, let the speed of first vehicle be x km/h:-

 = > \frac{x}{36} = \frac{2}{3}

 = > 3x = 36 \times 2

 = > x = \frac{36 \times 2}{3}

On cancelling 36 by 3, we get:-

 = >x = 12 \times 2

 = > x = 24

So, the speed of the first vehicle is 24 km/h.
