The murder weapon was an icicle; it was the middle of winter! The woman was stabbed with the icicle, and the murderer turned, which is how the blood got onto the floor, and placed it in the glass to melt, destroying the evidence.

The murder weapon was ice/icicle. It is now melted and the water is mixed with blood in the glass on the side table. The woman was killed by being repeatedly stabbed with a piece of ice. The blood on the sheets and carpet is from her wounds, and the glass of water mixed with blood is from the melted ice.
