• You can try as hard as you want, but you can’t block Mark Zuckerberg on Facebook.
• There’s been a rash of stories lately about this, but Zuck has been unblockable for years.
• Disappointingly, it’s not a joke by Facebook’s engineers, down to Zuckerberg’s vanity, or because he needs to keep an eye on you.
• According to Mashable, it’s the product of a safeguard built in to the site to prevent trolling campaigns against certain people.
• If one account has been blocked a lot in a short space of time, the safeguard will kick in and prevent any more blocks, just in case the person is being targeted by bullies or a viral campaign.
• Facebook says the system is there to “protect the experience for people targeted by these campaigns.”
• So there’s nothing too nefarious going on there, it’s just an automatic block-blocker.
• It does tell us one thing, however — there’s a lot of people who are constantly trying to block Mark Zuckerberg on Facebook.
• But with on of the most popular accounts on the site (he’s got over 40 million followers), that’s not too surprising.
