CALCULATING THE MASS OF THE EARTH

2. GM/r2= a (The m's canceled out.) Now solve for M, the mass of the Earth.

4. M = 9.8 x (6.4 x 106)2/(6.67 x 10-11) = 6.0 x 1024 kg
