Anthracosis

Anthracosis is a disease caused by the inhalation of coal dust, usually in small amounts, over many years. When too much coal dust is inhaled, the particles cannot be destroyed or removed by the body. The buildup of these particles eventually causes the thickening and scarring of the lungs, which in turns leads to improper oxygenation of a person's blood.

Anthracosis

Anthracosis (anthrac- meaning coal, carbon + -osis meaning condition) is defined in Bioline as, “the asymptomatic, milder type of pneumoconiosis as caused by the accumulation of carbon in the lungs due to repeated exposure to air pollution or inhalation of smoke or coal dust particles”.
