Yes, We can detect a cavity inside an ornament using Archimedes principle.

To calculate the density of the ornament we need to sink the ornament into the water and density is calculated from the volume of water displaced and so its weight. (By Archimedes principle - states that the upward force that is exerted on a body immersed in a fluid, is equal to the weight of the fluid that the body displaces.)

now if the density calculated is less than the stated density of the material then there must be a cavity in the ornament.
