Look at this sentence,
Ram is going.
who do action and do work is known as subject.
and what work and action is doing known as Predicate.
In the above sentence Subject is ''Ram'' and predicate is '' is going''.
Another example,
Rahul was eating food
in this sentence Subject is ''Rahul'' and predicate is '' was eating food''
I hope you will understand.

Subject refers to something which a sentence talks about.
And predicate refers to something which is talked about the subject
For example :- Raju is a clever boy
in this sentence , raju is the subject because the sentence is talking about raju and is a clever boy becomes the predicate as this part of the sentence says something about raju
