can you give historical examples that show why hate speech is a problem?

Answer:
I sense a slight animosity in your questions here. Since I’m a Quora user who is not compensated for the time I dedicate to answering questions, I am surely offended by this. I deem your question hate speech and I wish to see it removed from the platform.
That’s ridiculous, right? Of course it is. Hate speech is subjective. What offends some many not offend others. Hate speech is a problem but only to the person interpreting it as such. An example:
I have two siblings who are gay/bisexual. While they both like the wieners, it’s the only thing they really share in common. One is a dedicated member of ANTIFA and protesting is his weekend fun. He uses the words “hate speech” and “bigot” at least once in every conversation. The other works a blue collar job and is dating a minority. The second brother makes gay jokes all the time. He dishes them out, makes innuendo remarks and will laugh if I can make an original and witty remark towards him and his preferences. He, of course, knows I am kidding as I don’t care who people decide to date, marry, sleep with or what-not.
