Dear Student,
Spoilage of food is called rancidity.
● Rancidity -
- Rancidity is the complete or incomplete oxidation or hydrolysis of fats and oils when exposed to air, light, or moisture or by bacterial action, resulting in unpleasant taste and odor.
◆ Examples of food spoilage -

- Packed food gets spoiled after expiry date.
● Methods to prevent rancidity -
- Storing the food at lower temperatures
- Sealproof packing of food items
- Addition of antioxidants to food materials
- Avoid contact from direct sunlight
Hope this helps...
