7. Answer the following question

a) Define

(i) Mass is both a property of a physical body and a measure of its resistance to acceleration when a net force is applied. An object's mass also determines the strength of its gravitational attraction to other bodies. The basic SI unit of mass is kilogram(kg).

(ii) The kilogram is the standard international system of units unit of mass. It is defined as the mass of a particular international prototype made of platinum-iridium and kept at the International Bureau of Weights and measures.

(iii) The weight of an object is the force acting on the object due to gravity. Some standard textbooks define weight as a vector quantity, the magnitude of the gravitational force.

(iv) Time is the indefinite continued progress of existence and events that occur in an apparantly irreversible succession from the past, through the present, into the future..... Time in physics is operationally defined as "what a clock reads"

b) Measurement is the assignment of a number to a characteristic of an object or event, which can be compared with other objects or events... This system reduces all physical measurements to a mathematical combination of seven base units. The science of measurement is pursued in the field of metrology. Understanding weight, Proper use of capacity, etc...
