1) 1/3x = 7

x = 7 × 3

x = 21

2)1/3x + 3 = 4

1/3x = 4-3

1/3x = 1

x= 3

3) 3 - 1/4y =2

-1/4y = 2-3

-1/4y = -1

y = -1 × 4/-1

y = 4

\sf{Solution}

Given :-

\sf\dfrac{1}{3}x = 7

\sf\dfrac{1}{3}x+3 = 4

3 - \sf\dfrac{1}{4}y = 2

Concept to know :-

If we find the value of x that should be satisfy with LHS = RHS

Lets do one by one !!

1) \sf\dfrac{1}{3}x = 7

\sf\dfrac{x}{3} = 7

Do cross multiplication

x = 7 × 3

x = 21

2) \sf\dfrac{1}{3}x+3 = 4

\sf\dfrac{x}{3}+3 = 4

Take LCM to the LHS

\sf\dfrac{x+9}{3} = 4

Do cross multiplication

x + 9 = 3 (4)

x + 9 = 12

Transpose 9 to RHS

x = 12 -9

x = 3

3) 3 - \sf\dfrac{1}{4}y = 2

3 - \sf\dfrac{y}{4} = 2

Take LCM To LHS

\sf\dfrac{12-y}{4} = 2

Do cross multiplication

12- y = 8

Transpose y to RHS & 8 to LHS

12 - 8 = y

y = 4
