The inflows of an urban ecosystem can be the divided into three catergories:
Stored inputs: These are the construction of new buildings and their waste.
Transformed inputs: These are the crops that we grow for foods, fuels like petrol and diesel and water that is the essential part of a life.
Passive inputs: Air, water and Heat are the passive inputs because we get them naturally from the environment.
The outputs of a ecosystem can be pollution, deforestation, increased land use, wastes that are dumped in water bodies that effect the marine and aquatic life. Other outputs such as waste by animals and humans, natural fire, global warming etc.
