Answer:

Various types of textiles depend on the region they belong to and the availability of the natural materials, Each tribe has its weaving traditions that have been passed down through the generations.

Explanation:

  • Every piece of finely handcrafted cloth has its function and symbolism, as well as the culture and beliefs of those who created it.
  • This is what adds to their beauty and elevates them to the level of a work of art.
  • Textile manufacturing is widespread in the Philippines.
  • Weaving villages are largely centred in the Ilocos and Cordillera areas in the northern half of Luzon, while Bicol and the island of Mindoro have weavers as well.

Textile of ilocos and coridillera province:

  • Ilocos textile and Cordillera provincial textile are similar in that they are both manufactured from natural materials and are utilised for traditional attire.
  • The textiles in Ilocos are made of cotton, while those in Cordillera province are made of abaca fibres.
  • Weavers from the Cordillera province use a different design than the Ilocanos, who prefer an intricate geometric design.

Cagayan Valley and Mountain Province textiles:

  • The Cagayan valley utilises barred textiles, but the mountain province uses zigzag.
  • Cagayan Valley textiles differ in that they use dark hues but are degraded with light and feature unusual designs, primarily stripes.
  • Mountain Province textiles contrast with dark colours, generally black.
  • Traditional backstrap weaving and loom weaving are two styles of ethnic weaving practised in Mountain Province.
  • Aside from traditional clothes, backstrap weavers create traditional fabric and apparel for ceremonies, while loom weavers create purses, caps, and other souvenir products.

Hence, the textiles vary from place to place depending on the pattern, design, colours and materials used by them.
