can you justify the statement that sound also follows laws of reflection like light
Answers
The laws of reflection are followed by both the sound and the light. The laws are as follows:
1. The three waves/rays- incident, reflected and the normal to the surface of reflection all lie in the same plane.
2. The angle of incidence ,i.e. the angle at which the incident wave falls is equal to the angle of reflection, i.e. the angle at which the incident wave reflects back.
Sounds waves travel in one medium but when it strikes a smooth surface it gets redirected to some other direction. This is the phenomenon of reflection.
It is because sound waves when hit a surface in which they are neither absorbed nor transmitted then it gets reflected back.
When sound waves travel through an elastic medium without losing energy, then after striking a surface it will be refected back in the same medium.
The same happens with light reflection.
So, the first law of reflection in sound states that the incident, the reflected, and the normal lies on the same point.
The second law of reflection of sound states that the angle of incidence is equal to the angle of reflection.
