Quantities which have only magnitude and no direction are called scalar quantities:

Some examples of scalar quantites are: mass, distance, time, speed, volume, density, pressure, work, energy, power, charge, electric current, temperature, scalar potential, specific heat, frequency etc.

Quantities which have both magnitude and direction and they obey the vector laws like the triangle law of vector addition or equivalent parallelogram law of vector addition are called vector quantites.

Examples: Displacement, velocity, acceleration, force, weight, momentum,angular momentum, impulse, electric field, magnetic field, current density,poynting vector, vector potential etc.
