area of shaded region = area of square 1 - [area of square 2 + area of circle]

square 1 = 14 * 14 = 196 cm

square 2 = 4*4 = 16 cm

circle = 22/7 * 4= 12.25, area of 2 circles = 24.5

196 - [ 16 + 24.5] = 196 - 41.5 = 154.5
