1. State government has power over a state or a subunit of a country.
2. It's powers are mentioned in the State list in constitution.
3. It rules over matters of daily affairs such as police,trade commerce etc.

Central Government

1. It has power over the entire country.
2. It's powers are mentioned in Union list.
3. It exercises power over matters of national importance such as currency, defence etc.
