Answer:  You can't shorten the process of egg-hatching by increasing the number of chickens. Therefore, 30 hens will also need 18 days to hatch their eggs.

Answer:

9 days

Step-by-step explanation:

No of eggs to hatch = 30

In fist case no of hens are less than number of eggs to be hatched.

One hen can hatch one egg at a time.

Thus 20 eggs willbe hatched 1st, and then the remaining 10 eggs will be hatched.

Number of days required for every egg to hatched being same, 2 cyles of hatching is required in 1st place.

Thus actual number of days to hatch an egg = 18 / 2 = 9 days.

In 2nd case, number of eggs = 30

Number of available hens = 30

Both are same. Thus all the 30 eggs can be hatched simultaniously.

Thus it will take 9 days to hatch 30 eggs with 30 hens.
